The Importance of Financial Wellbeing

In 2018, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), Ireland published research on the Levels of Financial Capability and Financial Well-Being in Ireland.

This report analyses financial well-being in Ireland, based on data collected in January and February 2018. Irish people, like their counterparts in many countries, are expected to take responsibility for their own financial well-being, both currently and in the future. Yet they were doing moderately well in terms of general financial well-being and had low levels of financial resilience for retirement.

The low level of financial resilience in 2018 would suggest that many employees will need support and guidance, post pandemic. However research commissioned by Irish Life in May 2020 suggests that almost half of Irish adults have never had a meeting with a financial advisor.

Financial Wellbeing should be a key programme in every corporate wellbeing strategy. Even facilitating a meeting with an adviser such as Mind My Money can help considerably.
